"Pinklet" T-Shirt

from $24.00

As I write this, I’m thinking the artwork should show Caroline’s truck in a million pieces on jack stands. But who would wear that? Instead, I’ve created a wearable lie!

About the truck: I purchased this 1987 Mitsubishi Mighty Max around 2011-ish, as a running, driving, fully functional truck with air suspension already installed. At the time my 1986 Dodge D50 was under heavy construction, getting air suspension, and a widened chassis and body to fit a V8 drivetrain. I was tired of being the guy in my truck club with no truck to enjoy, so buying a turn-key mini truck seemed like the way to go.

After getting “D350” on the road, I put the Mighty Max in storage and decided I’d put it up for sale. My girlfriend Caroline said, “I want a mini truck!”

That said I decided to fix it up for her to match her personality. For several weeks I would go to my Brothers garage after work to shave the door handles, tailgate, and front bumper, and prep it for paint. My brother Nate sprayed the truck with black, silver, and House of Color Hot Pink Pearl. While this project was underway I maintained a partial lie with Caroline that I was “secretly working on a friends truck that plans to surprise his girlfriend.”

Once completed, I grossed out future me for eternity by using the truck reveal as bribe, and asked Caroline to marry me when I revealed all we had done.

She said “Yes”. Obviously.

When I started Mankandy’s Kreations, our garage was always occupied by someone else’s vehicle, so the Mighty Max got put into storage again. There the carburetor deteriorated and began leaking. Shortly after the mechanical fuel pump sprang a leak. Summarized, there was fuel everywhere and I had to tell Caroline she couldn’t drive it.

Because it was so underpowered and slow, I decided to upgrade the engine rather than fix current one. That started a vicious chain of “while I’m here, I should also…”

5 years later it’s still in pieces, but now with a 100% custom built air suspension, a Mitsubishi Eclipse Turbo engine with Mustang rear axle. It’s coming along nicely now that I don’t have a day-job in the way!

About these shirts: I make them myself! I’ve been told that’s the only way to supply Garage Fab viewers with shirts that don’t suck.

I use Bella-Canvas blank shirts, (Very soft. I love them) and high quality heat transfers. I’ve washed a shirt 10 times so far and it still looks pretty fantastic.

Shirts are made hot and fresh when you order!
